Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal can be a sticky situation, whether it’s on your concrete, parking lot or the side of a building, gum eventually transforms into a black smudge on concrete. But before that happens, pedestrians and customers coming into a store or office will walk on the chewing gum and get it in all over the carpets, rugs and mats. Then it is embedded deep into the carpet and into the porous surface of concrete, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to carry it somewhere else in your building.
We are happy to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Riverside CA. Find more information about our methods below:
The best methods for removing chewing gum from concrete usually depends on how long the gum has been stuck there and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the chewing gum was left not long ago and it has not penetrated the surface yet, we might be able to get it off by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping it off with a putty knife.
The ice forces the gum to freeze into a more forgiving consistency compared to a warm and sticky mess. Once that happens, we slide a putty knife or scraper right under the gum. After that we slide the scraper very slowly beneath the gum and the entire piece should peel right off of the concrete.
The above method is only possible with brand new gum.
When we remove gum that has turned black, or is smashed deep down into the concrete, we use a hot water pressure washer with the heat turned up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal service, we do not use high pressure because that will sometimes damage the surface of the concrete!
Our crew never uses more pressure than necessary to clean concrete. These surfaces can be damaged much easier than people think, especially if they’re only 1-2 years old. Concrete can take up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our chewing gum removal service.
To remove chewing gum from concrete and other surfaces we use specially designed hot water power washing equipment and special soaps that allow us to clean the concrete without causing any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we safely remove gum and surface dirt all while protecting the surface. Our method will also destroy bacteria and germs that can be found in gum on concrete.
